The ideal candidate will possess the experience, vision, commitment, and integrity to successfully support the strategic goals of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T). This role manages logistical support to Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) efforts at a DHS S&T-run laboratory facility in New York, NY. This laboratory's mission activities in test and evaluation (T&E) and research and development (R&D) help first responders prepare, protect, and respond to homeland security threats. This position is onsite in New York, NY or offsite with travel.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Perform Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities.
  • Assist with inventories of property and determine causes of discrepancy inventory logs.
  • Manage all shipping responsibilities including organization of shipping materials, receipt and verification of shipped items, outgoing shipping, arranging pickup and delivery and processing all paperwork, as required; and receiving and distributing incoming mail.
  • Escort external contractors for onsite activities (e.g., repair personnel, etc.).
  • Operate a forklift to move and store shipments received in warehouse.
  • Perform routine tasks to ensure all forklifts and motor vehicles are operational.
  • Operate motor vehicles to transport staff and property within vicinity of duty station.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Valid New York State driver license.
  • Must have experience with day-to-day management of a facility including property management.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and DHS suitability.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Operational experience supporting DoD and/or DHS components (e.g. TSA, CBP, FPS, NPPD, DNDO, USCG, ICE).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment, demonstrate teamwork and initiative, and function productively in the face of new assignments and the re-prioritization of existing assignments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks.
  • Must demonstrate written and oral communication skills as well as an ability to multitask independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Logistics management experience and strong organizational skills, with demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high pressure, fast paced atmosphere.
  • Strong technical writing skills targeting both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Project) required.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance and DHS suitability preferred.
