The ideal candidate will possess the experience, vision, commitment, and integrity to successfully support the strategic goals of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T). This position provides subject matter expertise to DHS S&T RDT&E technical staff and provides test and evaluation (T&E) activities related to fire service technologies, serves as relationship manager to customers and partners, and serves at T&E events. This is a remote/offsite position.
In this role you will be expected to:
Provide fire services subject matter expertise to S&T technical staff.
Assist in planning, execution, and reporting for T&E activities related to fire service technologies, to include focus groups, demonstrations, and assessments.
Serve as relationship manager on behalf of S&T to fire service and other first responder customers and partners.
Meet with first responder customers to exchange technology information, needs, and requirements.
Serve as liaison to the S&T First Responder Resource Group and Inter-Agency Board for Emergency Preparedness Groups.
Occasional travel to S&T laboratories and T&E events as required.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and 18 years of relevant experience.
Proven expertise and experience in fire services or firefighter technologies and/or operations.
Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
Desired Qualifications:
Operational, programmatic or management experience supporting DoD and/or DHS components (e.g., TSA, CBP, FPS, CISA, CWMD, USCG, ICE).
Ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment, demonstrate teamwork and initiative, and function productively in the face of new assignments and the re-prioritization of existing assignments.
Previous experience in government test and evaluation of technology in operational and laboratory settings.
Demonstrated meeting facilitation experience, including leading working groups or eliciting feedback from customers.
Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Project) required.
